This deep, groundwater-seeking root structure allows Cutting Edge® Grass Seed to thrive during dry conditions.

STOP Constant Fertilizing:

Due to Cutting Edge® Grass Seed mix’s low fertility rate, Cutting Edge® requires approximately 1 pound of nitrogen per year. Most Kentucky bluegrass blends require a minimum of 3-4 pounds of nitrogen per year, but on average require 5-7 pounds of nitrogen per year, resulting in the application of 4-7 fertilizer treatments annually. Mowing and mulching the top ⅓ of the grass blade clippings back into the soil a few times in the spring and a few times in the fall should provide the amount of nitrogen needed for Cutting Edge® Grass without excessive fertilizer applications.

STOP Constant Mowing:

Cutting Edge® Grass Seed is designed for slow growth and “dwarf” height.

Once established, a Cutting Edge® lawn needs only occasional mowing, often only a few times in the spring and a few times in the fall.

Application

Prepare/loosen top soil. Then apply Cutting Edge® Grass Seed at a rate of approximately 1 lb. per 250 sq. ft. (new lawn), 1 lb. per 500 sq ft. (over seed) and start fertilizer as directed.

Regularly and gently water. Keep moist until all seeds have germinated – typically 30-45 days.

Before first mowing, ensure all seeds have germinated. Never mow more than ⅓ of the grass height per week. We recommend maintaining a cut grass height of 3.25 to 3.5 inches. After first mowing and as roots continue to develop, gradually reduce the amount of watering.

Instructions may vary based on climate, soil and geographical location.

Cutting Edge® Organic Seed Coating is an OMRI® Listed natural organic grass seed coating. Cutting Edge® Organic Seed Coating includes a Hydration and Mycorrhiza Package™. The seed coating will absorb and retain moisture during the germination period encapsulating moisture around the seedling. This typically results in faster germanation while reducing the need for constant watering. Our seed coating also is enhanced with mycorrhiza, fungi that grow either inside of a plant’s roots or attach to the surface of a root. The fungi send their hyphae (small roots) out into the surrounding soil, thus enhancing the grass’ ability to absorb nutrients and water and filter out soil toxins.
